Private Car
To reach Babusar Pass from Hunza Valley by private car, start your journey from Karimabad, the main town in Hunza. Head southeast on the KKH (Karakoram Highway) towards Gilgit. After approximately 2 hours, you will arrive at the town of Gilgit. Continue on the KKH for around 1 hour until you reach the junction for Naran. Take a right turn towards Naran and follow the road for about 2 hours until you reach Naran. From Naran, the road ascends steeply, and you will need to pay a toll fee of approximately PKR 100 at the entrance of Babusar Pass. Continue driving for about 1 hour, and you will reach Babusar Pass. Make sure to check the weather conditions, as the pass may be closed during winter due to heavy snowfall.
Public Transportation (Bus)
For those using public transportation, start from Karimabad by taking a local bus or shared taxi to Gilgit. This journey takes around 2 hours and costs approximately PKR 300. Once in Gilgit, you need to catch a bus heading to Naran. These buses typically leave in the morning and the fare is around PKR 600. The journey from Gilgit to Naran will take around 2 hours. After reaching Naran, look for a jeep or local taxi to take you to Babusar Pass. The jeep ride from Naran to Babusar Pass takes about 1 hour, and you should expect to pay around PKR 1500. Be sure to negotiate the fare before starting your jeep ride.
Private Taxi
If you prefer more flexibility, hiring a private taxi from Karimabad to Babusar Pass is a great option. You can negotiate the fare with the driver, which typically ranges from PKR 6000 to PKR 8000 for a round trip. The taxi will take you through the same route as a private car. Make sure to allow for a full day for the trip, as the journey can take up to 6 hours, including stops for photos and refreshments.
