Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Karimabad, head south on the KKH (Karakoram Highway) towards Gilgit. After about 50 km, you'll reach the town of Gilgit. From there, continue on the KKH towards the town of Gupis, which is approximately 90 km away. The road will take you through beautiful landscapes. Once you reach Gupis, follow the signs towards Darkot Valley, which is about 25 km away. The road may become rough, and a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for the last stretch to Darkot Pass.

  • Public Transportation

    From Karimabad, you can take a shared van or bus to Gilgit. These leave frequently from the main bus terminal. Once you arrive in Gilgit, you can catch another shared van to Gupis. After reaching Gupis, you will need to hire a local jeep to take you to Darkot Pass, as public transport does not directly reach the pass. The jeep fare may cost around 3000 to 4000 PKR, depending on the number of passengers and negotiation.

  • Hiking

    For those adventurous enough, you can start your hike from Gupis directly to Darkot Pass. This hike is approximately 15 km and can take around 5-7 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you have good hiking gear and enough supplies, as the trail can be steep and challenging.
