Walking
From the center of Kokopo, head towards the waterfront area. Walk along the main road (Kokopo Road), which runs parallel to the coast. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout near the Kokopo Market. At the roundabout, take the exit towards Duke of York Island. Follow the signs that lead you to the ferry terminal for Duke of York. Once you arrive at the ferry terminal, purchase a ticket for the next ferry to Duke of York Island. The ferry ride typically takes about 30 minutes. After disembarking at Duke of York, walk towards the main village area. Maira Homestay is located nearby, so ask locals for directions if needed.

If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Kokopo town center and ride towards the Kokopo Market area. From the market, continue along Kokopo Road towards the ferry terminal. Follow the same route as a pedestrian, ensuring that you safely navigate through traffic. After reaching the ferry terminal, park your bicycle in a safe area and take the ferry to Duke of York Island. Upon arrival, you can either walk or ask for a local guide to help you reach Maira Homestay.
