From the city of Abancay, head northwest on the PE-3S highway towards the town of Curahuasi. Continue on PE-3S for about 30 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the road leading to Maras. Turn left on the road marked for Maras and follow the signs. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes in total from Abancay to Maras. Note that the road conditions may vary, so drive cautiously.
Public Transportation
To travel by public transport, you can take a bus from the main bus terminal in Abancay to Urubamba. Several companies operate this route, and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Urubamba, look for local combis (shared vans) or taxis that go to Maras. The fare for the combi ride should be around 5-10 soles, and it takes about 30 minutes to reach Maras. Ensure to confirm with the driver that they are heading to Maras before boarding.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Abancay to take you to Maras. This option will be more expensive, typically costing between 150-200 soles for a one-way trip.
