Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from Chivay, the nearest town to Colca Canyon. Head southeast on the main road (PE-34A) towards the Colca Canyon entrance. After about 10 km, look for signs pointing to the road leading to Cerro Maca. Turn left onto this road and continue for approximately 8 km. You will see the mountain in the distance; follow the road which will lead you directly to the base of Cerro Maca. Ensure you have a map or GPS device as some parts of the road may not be well-marked.

    To reach Cerro Maca via public transportation, take a bus or shared taxi from Chivay to the Colca Canyon entrance. The fare is usually around 10-15 PEN.
