Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards the town of Casma, which is about 10 hours north of Lima. From Casma, take the Pan-American Highway (Carretera Panamericana) towards the north. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for signs directing you to the Carretera a Chankillo. Follow the Chankillo road for about 10 kilometers until you reach the archaeological site. Make sure to have a map or GPS handy as the road can be less marked.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a bus from Lima to the town of Casma. Several bus companies operate this route, and the journey takes approximately 10-12 hours. Once you arrive in Casma, you can catch a local taxi or a mototaxi to take you to the entrance of Chankillo. The taxi ride will take around 30 minutes and should cost approximately 20-30 soles. Ensure you negotiate the price before starting your ride.
Walking
For those adventurous enough, from the nearest village to Chankillo (which is about 5 kilometers away), you can walk to the site. The walk will take approximately 1-1.5 hours. Ensure you have enough water and sunscreen, as the area can be quite arid and sunny.
