From Caldas da Rainha, head to the main bus terminal, Terminal Rodoviário de Caldas da Rainha. You can walk there from the town center, which takes about 10 minutes. Once at the terminal, look for the bus line heading to Nazaré. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. After arriving in Nazaré, get off at the stop closest to the beach (Praia da Nazaré). From there, walk towards Estr. do Farol, which is a scenic road along the coast. Follow the road for about 20 minutes until you reach Forte de São Miguel Arcanjo, located on the cliffs overlooking the ocean.

If you prefer to walk, start from the main square of Caldas da Rainha, Praça da República. Head southwest on Rua do Mercado until you reach Avenida 1 de Maio. Turn left and follow this avenue until you reach the roundabout. Take the second exit onto Rua Dr. José Pereira and continue straight until you reach the junction with Estr. do Farol in Nazaré. At this point, you may choose to catch a local bus or continue walking along Estr. do Farol, which leads directly to the fortress. The total walking distance is approximately 25 kilometers, so be prepared for a long trek, or consider breaking it up with public transport.
