Walking
If you're starting from the Coimbra city center (Praça do Comércio), head northeast on Rua Ferreira Borges. Continue straight for about 600 meters until you reach the intersection with Avenida Sá da Bandeira. Turn left onto Avenida Sá da Bandeira and walk for another 300 meters. You will see a sign for Universidade de Coimbra on your right. Follow the signs up the hill towards the university's main entrance.

From the Coimbra Train Station, exit onto Avenida Emídio Navarro. Walk straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the large roundabout (Rotunda da Liberdade). From there, take the second exit onto Avenida Sá da Bandeira. Continue straight until you see the entrance to the University of Coimbra on your right, where the Escadas Monumentais will be located just ahead.

If you are coming from the Botanical Garden (Jardim Botânico), exit the garden and turn left onto Rua da Lapa. Walk down the street and turn right onto Rua da Oliveira. Continue straight; you will reach the university's entrance in about 500 meters. The Escadas Monumentais are located immediately after you enter the university grounds.

Take the local bus number 34 or 35 from any point in Coimbra that connects to the city center. Get off at the 'Universidade' stop. From there, follow the signs towards the university entrance. Once you enter the university, the Escadas Monumentais will be in front of you.
