Walking
If you are starting from the iconic Livraria Lello, head south towards Rua das Carmelitas. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rua dos Carvalhos. Turn left onto Rua dos Carvalhos and walk until you reach the end of the street. At the end of Rua dos Carvalhos, turn right onto Rua de São Bento da Vitória. Follow this street until you see the signs for Escada do Caminho Novo, which will be on your left. The stairway will lead you to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the Douro River.

From the Ribeira district, walk up the Rua da Infanta Dom Henrique towards the Dom Luís I Bridge. Cross the bridge to Vila Nova de Gaia and keep walking straight. Once you are on the other side, head back towards Porto and look for signs leading to Escada do Caminho Novo. This area is known for its stunning views of the river, so be sure to enjoy the scenery as you walk.

Take the Metro Line D (Yellow Line) from any station in Porto towards the Santo Ovídio station. Get off at the São Bento station, which is centrally located.
