If you are starting from the iconic Ribeira district, walk towards the riverfront and head to Praça da Ribeira. From there, look for the Rua Infante Dom Henrique. Follow this street uphill until you reach the intersection with Rua de São João. Turn right onto Rua de São João, and continue straight. Soon you will see a sign for Escadas do Barredo on your left. Follow the signs and take the steps leading down to Escadas do Barredo.

Once you exit the metro, head towards the main square, Praça de Almeida Garrett, which is right next to the São Bento train station. From the square, make your way to Rua de São João and follow it until you see the sign for Escadas do Barredo. You'll need to walk down the steps to reach the scenic area.
