Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the Praça da República in Viana do Castelo, which is the central square. Head east towards Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout at Praça da Liberdade. From there, take the first exit onto Rua de São Paulo. Follow this street until you reach the intersection with Rua Dr. José R. da Silva. Turn left onto Rua Dr. José R. da Silva, and continue walking. At the next roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenida de São Sebastião. Follow this avenue until you reach a fork; take the left fork to continue onto Rua da Liberdade. After a short distance, you will see signs leading to Miradouro do Depósito da Água. Follow the signs uphill until you arrive at the viewpoint.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  From the central bus station in Viana do Castelo, take the local bus that heads towards the hospital (Hospital de Viana do Castelo). You can ask the bus driver for confirmation that you are on the right route. Get off at the stop closest to the hospital. From there, exit the bus and head towards Avenida de São Sebastião. Walk along Avenida de São Sebastião until you see signs for Miradouro do Depósito da Água. Follow the signs uphill to reach the viewpoint.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, start at the waterfront along the Rio Lima. Follow the bike path that leads you along the river towards the Parque da Cidade. Continue cycling through the park until you reach the exit that leads to Avenida de São Sebastião. Once on Avenida de São Sebastião, look for signs leading to Miradouro do Depósito da Água. Follow the signs uphill to the viewpoint.
