Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from anywhere within the Napatree Point Conservation Area, start by heading northwest towards the main road, Atlantic Avenue. Continue straight to reach Route 1. Merge onto Route 1 North and follow the signs for Stonington. After approximately 5 miles, take the exit toward Palmer Street. Turn left onto Palmer Street, and the Captain Nathaniel B. Palmer House Museum will be on your left at 40 Palmer St, Stonington, CT 06378.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you will need to first reach the Westerly Amtrak Station. From Napatree Point, walk or take a short taxi ride to the station. Once at the station, board an Amtrak train heading to New London. At New London, transfer to a local bus heading towards Stonington. You can take the #9 bus towards Mystic, which will stop near Palmer Street. From the bus stop, it’s a short 5-minute walk to the museum located at 40 Palmer St, Stonington, CT 06378.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and would like to bike, you can rent a bicycle from a local rental service in the area. Start at the Napatree Point Conservation Area and head towards Atlantic Avenue. Follow Atlantic Avenue until you reach Route 1. Continue on Route 1 North for about 4 miles, then take a left onto Palmer Street. The museum will be on your left at 40 Palmer St, Stonington, CT 06378. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules for safety!

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk, this will be a longer journey of about 2 miles. From Napatree Point, head northwest towards Atlantic Avenue. Follow Atlantic Avenue to Route 1. Once you reach Route 1, continue walking north until you find the exit for Palmer Street. Turn left onto Palmer Street and walk for about half a mile. You will find the Captain Nathaniel B. Palmer House Museum at 40 Palmer St, Stonington, CT 06378. It’s a scenic walk, so enjoy the views along the way!
