Getting There

  • Car

    From Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, exit the refuge and turn left onto Sachuest Point Road. Continue for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 1A. Turn left onto Route 1A South. Follow Route 1A for approximately 6 miles. Then, turn right onto Little Compton Road. Continue for about 2 miles until you reach the Sakonnet Lighthouse area. Please note that there is no direct road access to the lighthouse itself, but you can park nearby and walk to it.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are using public transportation, you will first need to get to Newport, RI. From Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, take a taxi or rideshare service to the Newport area as public buses may not directly serve the refuge. Once in Newport, take the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus #60 or #63 towards Little Compton. Get off at the stop nearest to Little Compton. From there, you may need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Sakonnet Lighthouse, as it is not within walking distance from the bus stop.
