    From the center of Karongi, walk towards the main road leading out of town. Head northwest along the road until you reach the junction with the Niyonzwe River. Follow the riverbank path to your left. After about 30 minutes of walking, you will reach the Nyamasheke Road. Turn left onto Nyamasheke Road and continue walking for approximately 45 minutes. You will start seeing signs for Gishwati-Mukura National Park. Follow the signage until you reach the park entrance, which is about a 15-minute walk from the main road.

  • Bicycle

    If you have access to a bicycle, start at the main market area in Karongi and head towards the Nyamasheke Road. Cycle along Nyamasheke Road for about 5 kilometers, which should take you roughly 20-30 minutes. Look for signs pointing towards Gishwati-Mukura National Park. The entrance to the park is located about 2 kilometers from the main road, and you can park your bicycle at the entrance.

  • Public Transport

    To reach Gishwati-Mukura National Park using public transportation, go to the bus station in Karongi. Look for a bus heading towards Nyamasheke. The bus ride should take about 45 minutes. Once you reach Nyamasheke, ask the conductor to drop you off at the stop closest to Gishwati-Mukura National Park. From there, you will need to walk approximately 2 kilometers to the park entrance, following the signs along the way.
