Start from the central area of Nova Gorica, such as the main square, Trg Edvarda Kardelja. Head south towards Ulica Tolminskih Puntarjev. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Ulica 1. maja. Turn left onto Ulica 1. maja and walk straight until you reach the bus station, Avtobusna postaja Nova Gorica. From there, you can catch a bus going towards the Italian border. Get off at the stop closest to the border, and follow the signs towards the border crossing. Once you cross into Italy, follow the signs towards Palmanova, which is a short walk from the border. The St. Francis Church is located at Contrada Garibaldi in Palmanova.
