Balbi's Arch: A Gateway to Rovinj's Rich History

Getting There

• Walking

  From the central Tartini Square in Piran, head southeast towards the waterfront. Continue along the promenade until you reach the end of the square. Turn left to follow the coast road, which will lead you out of Piran. Keep walking for about 15 minutes until you reach the bus station. From there, take a bus to Rovinj, which typically takes around 2 hours. Once you arrive at Rovinj, head towards the town center. Follow the signs or ask locals for directions to Trg G. Matteottija, which is a prominent square in Rovinj. Balbi's Arch is located at the edge of this square.

• Public Transport

  To reach Balbi's Arch from Piran, first walk to the Piran bus station located near the town center. Look for a bus heading to Rovinj, which you can check on local schedules. The bus ride will take approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival at the Rovinj bus station, exit and walk towards the town center. The main square, Trg G. Matteottija, is a short 10-minute walk from the bus station. As you enter the town, you will see Balbi's Arch at the entrance to the square.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Piran. Start your ride from the center of Piran and head towards the coastal road. Follow the road that leads south to the bus station, then take the bus from Piran to Rovinj. Once you arrive in Rovinj, you can cycle to Trg G. Matteottija. The square is easily accessible by bike as the streets in Rovinj are bike-friendly. The ride from the bus station to the square should take about 5 minutes.
