Once you arrive at the stop closest to Kanawha State Forest Dr, walk along the road toward 7500 Kanawha State Forest Dr. The trailhead should be visible and is well-marked.

If you prefer a more active approach, rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in downtown Charleston. Begin your journey by cycling south on Route 60. Follow the bike lanes as you make your way towards Kanawha State Forest. Keep a lookout for signage that indicates KRT Route 1 for guidance. Upon reaching the forest, follow the road until you see signs for Spotted Salamander Trail. There should be a designated parking area nearby where you can secure your bike.
