Getting There

• Bicycle

  Start from the center of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Head east on Main Street towards US-21. Turn left onto US-21 and continue for about 1.5 miles. You will need to cross the state line into North Carolina. As you approach the intersection with I-485, look for signs directing you towards Ballantyne. Continue on Elmstone Drive, and follow it until you reach the entrance of Big Rock Nature Preserve at 6500 Elmstone Dr, Charlotte, NC 28277.

• Walking

  From the center of Fort Mill, walk east on Main Street until you reach the intersection with US-21. Cross US-21 and proceed to walk along the sidewalks. Follow US-21 North for approximately 1.5 miles, crossing into North Carolina. Keep an eye out for the I-485 interchange signs. Once you see signs for Ballantyne, continue walking on Elmstone Drive until you reach Big Rock Nature Preserve, located at 6500 Elmstone Dr, Charlotte, NC 28277.

• Public Transport (Bus)

  Begin at the Fort Mill Downtown station. Check the local bus schedule for routes heading towards Charlotte. You will likely need to catch a bus that connects to the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). Take a bus that heads towards Ballantyne or I-485 area. Once you arrive at the nearest bus stop, you may need to walk approximately 1 mile to reach Big Rock Nature Preserve at 6500 Elmstone Dr, Charlotte, NC 28277.
