From the center of Custer, head north on 5th Street towards the intersection with SD-87. Continue walking straight until you reach the junction with SD-87. Once you reach SD-87, turn left. Follow SD-87 for approximately 7 miles, enjoying the scenic views along the way. The Needles Highway Scenic Overlook will be on your left, and there will be signs indicating the overlook.
