Walking
From the Mount Rushmore National Memorial, head east on SD-244 E towards the town of Custer. After about 4 miles, you'll reach a junction with US-16. Continue straight onto US-16 and walk for approximately 8 miles until you reach Custer. Once in Custer, look for signs directing you to the Custer State Park entrance.
Public Transit
If available, take a public bus or shuttle service from Mount Rushmore to Custer. Check the local schedules for availability and routes. Once in Custer, you can either walk or take a taxi to the Cathedral Spires Trailhead, which is located within Custer State Park.
Biking
If you have access to a bike, you can cycle from Mount Rushmore to Custer. Take the same route as walking: head east on SD-244 E, then continue onto US-16. The ride is approximately 12 miles. Once you reach Custer, follow the signs to Custer State Park.
