From the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Visitor Center, exit the building and head towards the main pathway leading to the memorial. Follow the path for approximately 0.5 miles until you reach the Grand View Terrace. Once at the terrace, you will see the iconic faces of Mount Rushmore. Continue walking along the path that leads towards the parking area and onto US-16 Scenic. The Scovel Johnson Tunnel is located just a short distance ahead on US-16 Scenic. It should take about 15-20 minutes to reach the tunnel.
