Walking
If you are in downtown Rapid City, start by heading west on Main Street towards 5th Street. Continue on Main Street until you reach 12th Street. Turn left onto 12th Street. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Sheridan Lake Road. Turn right onto Sheridan Lake Road. You will see Storybook Island on your left at 1301 Sheridan Lake Rd. The total walking distance is approximately 1.5 miles and may take about 30 minutes.

From downtown Rapid City, you can catch the Rapid City public bus service. Look for Route 4 (Sheridan Lake) which you can board at the nearest bus stop on Main Street. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at Sheridan Lake Road and 13th Street. From there, walk a short distance east on Sheridan Lake Road (about 0.2 miles) to reach Storybook Island located at 1301 Sheridan Lake Rd. The bus ride will take around 15-20 minutes, and the walk will take approximately 5 minutes.
