If you are driving from a central location in South Central South Dakota, such as Pierre, head west on US-34 W for about 45 miles until you reach the junction with SD-79 N. Take SD-79 N for approximately 50 miles, and then merge onto US-16 W towards Custer. Continue on US-16 W for about 20 miles, and you will arrive at the entrance to Black Hills National Forest in Custer, SD 57730. Be sure to check for possible entrance fees at the forest gates.
