    If you are starting from Rapid City, SD, take I-90 W for about 30 miles. Then take exit 61 for SD-79 S towards Custer. Continue on SD-79 S for about 16 miles until you reach the intersection with SD-87. Turn left onto SD-87 N and drive for approximately 10 miles. The Needles Eye Tunnel will be on your right at mile marker 31. Keep an eye out for the parking area where you can stop and enjoy the site.

    From Custer State Park, head north on SD-87. The Needles Eye Tunnel is about 10 miles north of the park entrance. You will see the tunnel on your left at mile marker 31. There are several scenic overlooks along the way where you can stop for photos and enjoy the views.
