Getting There

Walking
From Puerto de Alicante, head towards the Avenida de la Estación. Walk straight along the harbor promenade (Explanada de España), enjoying the views of the marina. Continue along until you reach the end of the promenade, where you will see the main road (Avenida de Federico Soto). Cross the road and head towards the Plaza de los Luceros, a well-known square. From there, you can see the Castillo de Santa Bàrbara on the hill. Follow the signs towards the castle, which will lead you to the base of the hill.

Funicular
At the base of the hill, you will find the entrance to the funicular railway that takes you directly up to Castell de Santa Bàrbara. The funicular operates regularly and costs approximately €2. You can buy tickets at the entrance. Enjoy the scenic ride up the hill, which offers stunning views of the city. Once at the top, you will be right at the entrance of the castle.

Hiking
If you prefer a more adventurous route, you can hike up to Castell de Santa Bàrbara. From the base of the hill, follow the marked trails that wind their way up. The hike takes about 30-40 minutes and is moderately challenging, but you’ll be rewarded with wonderful panoramic views of Alicante. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
