Public Transport
From Bilbao city center, make your way to the Termibus station. You can take the metro from any station towards San Mamés and follow the signs to Termibus, or walk approximately 15 minutes. Once at Termibus, purchase a ticket to Bakio, which is approximately a 35-40 minute bus ride. The bus will take you through beautiful landscapes. Get off at the Bakio bus stop.

After disembarking at the Bakio bus stop, head towards the beach and follow the coastal path. Walk along the beachfront until you reach the signs for San Juan Gaztelugatxe. The walk is about 2.5 km and will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Follow the path uphill, and enjoy the scenic views of the cliffs and the ocean.

As you approach San Juan Gaztelugatxe, you will see a steep set of steps leading down to the bridge that connects to the islet. The final ascent involves climbing about 241 steps to reach the top of the islet where the hermitage is located. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the top and take your time to explore the area.
