Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Ella, head south on the Main Street (A23) towards the Ella Rock. Continue walking until you reach the bus stand. From the bus stand, take the bus that is heading towards Kahatagasdigiliya or any bus that passes through Ranpathwila. The bus ride should take around 15-20 minutes. Get off at the 'Ranpathwila' stop. Once you get off, continue walking straight for about 1 kilometer. You will see signs pointing towards Veheragala Sirisangabo Raja Maha Viharaya. Follow those signs, and after a short hike uphill, you will arrive at the temple.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From Ella, you can hire a tuk-tuk from any of the tuk-tuk stands around the town. Inform the driver that you want to go to Veheragala Sirisangabo Raja Maha Viharaya. The tuk-tuk will take you directly to the temple, which is about 7 kilometers from Ella. The ride should take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic.
