Walking
Start at the Anuradhapura railway station. Exit the station and head southwest toward the main road (A9). Once on the A9, turn right and walk along the road for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Mihintale Road. Turn left onto Mihintale Road and continue straight for approximately 7 kilometers until you reach the Mihintale entrance. From there, you can either walk or take a local tuk-tuk to the Maha Stupa.

From any point in Anuradhapura, hail a tuk-tuk and tell the driver you want to go to Mihintale Maha Stupa (Mihintala Mahaseya). The ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. The tuk-tuk will drop you off at the base of Mihintale where you can start your ascent to the stupa.
