Getting There

  • Walking

    From Matara town center, walk towards the Matara Bus Station. Once you reach the bus station, look for a bus heading to Dondra. The buses are frequent and should be easy to find. After boarding, enjoy the ride which takes approximately 30 minutes. The bus will drop you off near the Dondra Head area. Once you get off the bus, follow the signs towards the Dondra Head Lighthouse, which is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From anywhere in Matara, you can hire a tuk-tuk to take you to Dondra Head. Just tell the driver 'Dondra' or 'Dondra Lighthouse.' The ride will take about 20 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle in Matara. Head south towards the coast, following the signs to Dondra. The route is approximately 6 kilometers and will take around 30-40 minutes.
