Getting There

  • Walking

    Start at Matara Railway Station. Exit the station and head southeast on Matara - Dondra Road (A2). Walk straight for about 2.5 kilometers until you reach the Dondra town area. You will pass by local shops and eateries. Continue walking straight until you see the sign for 'Dondra Lighthouse.' Turn left at the sign and follow the path leading to the lighthouse. The Point of Dondra is located next to the lighthouse, right by the coast.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From your location in Matara, find a nearby tuk-tuk stand or hail one from the street. Instruct the driver to take you to 'Dondra Lighthouse.' The ride should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. The driver will drop you off near the lighthouse, and from there, you can walk to the Point of Dondra, which is adjacent to the lighthouse.

    Head to the nearest bus station in Matara. Board a bus heading towards Dondra; these buses frequently depart and the fare is quite affordable. The journey will take around 30-40 minutes. Ask the bus conductor to alert you when you reach Dondra. Once you arrive in Dondra, walk towards the coast, and you will find the Dondra Lighthouse. The Point of Dondra is located near the lighthouse.
