If you are in the central area of Matara, start at the Matara Clock Tower, which is a prominent landmark. From the Clock Tower, head south on Main Street (Galle Road) for about 400 meters until you reach a junction. Turn right onto Weherahena Road. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see the entrance to Weherahena Poorwarama Rajamaha Viharaya on your left. The temple is well-signposted and has a large gate.

You can easily hire a Tuk-Tuk from your location in Matara. Simply tell the driver 'Weherahena Temple' or show them the address 'Weherahena Rd, Matara'. The journey will take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. The driver will likely know the best route to take, but they will head out of the town center towards the south along Galle Road before turning onto Weherahena Road.
