Getting There

    From the center of Mirissa, start at the Mirissa Beach area. Head east towards the main road (Matara - Hambantota Road). Once you reach the main road, turn left and walk along the pavement. Keep walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with a signpost indicating Hiyare Reservoir. At this junction, turn right onto Hiyare Road. Continue straight for about 3 kilometers, passing through lush greenery and small local shops. The road will become narrower, and you might see some local wildlife. Hiyare Reservoir will be on your left side.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a tuk-tuk from anywhere in Mirissa. Simply ask the driver to take you to Hiyare Reservoir. The ride will take around 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure to negotiate the price before starting your journey. The driver will know the route well, taking you along the main road and then turning onto Hiyare Road towards the reservoir.

  • Bicycle

    If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops in Mirissa. Start at Mirissa Beach and head towards the main road (Matara - Hambantota Road). Turn left and cycle for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with Hiyare Road. Turn right onto Hiyare Road and continue cycling straight for about 3 kilometers. Enjoy the scenic views and keep an eye out for local wildlife along the way. The reservoir will be on your left as you approach.
