Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Jaffna city. Head southeast on Kandy Road (A9) towards Chavakachcheri. Continue on A9 for about 32 km until you reach the junction with the A35 road. Turn left onto the A35 road, which will take you towards Point Pedro. Drive for approximately 18 km until you reach Chalai. Once in Chalai, follow the local roads towards CM9C+FJ. The Mouth of the Challai Lagoon will be accessible from the end of the road in Chalai, though please note that the lagoon is presently dried.

To reach the Mouth of the Challai Lagoon using public transportation, first make your way to the Jaffna bus station. From there, take a bus heading to Point Pedro. Buses run frequently, and the fare is typically around LKR 50-100. Upon reaching Point Pedro, you will need to take a local tuk-tuk to Chalai for about LKR 300.
