From Lugano city center, walk to the Lugano train station (Stazione FFS), which is a 10-minute walk. Once at the station, look for the bus stop for line 2 or 5 towards Verbania. The bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Make sure to get off at the stop 'Verbania, Giardini Botanici', which is located near the entrance to the Giardini Botanici di Villa Taranto.

Walk to the Lugano train station (Stazione FFS) from the city center. Take a train to Domodossola, which takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Domodossola, switch to a regional train heading to Verbania. The train ride to Verbania takes about 20 minutes. Once in Verbania, walk to the bus stop and take bus line 1 or 2 towards 'Verbania, Giardini Botanici'. The garden will be a short walk from the bus stop.

From Lugano, head towards the lakefront and find the ferry terminal. Take a ferry to Intra, which is approximately a 30-minute ride.
