Taxi
From Moshi, you can hire a taxi to take you directly to Lake Chala Safari Lodge and Campsite. Make sure to negotiate the fare before you start your journey. The route will generally take you along the A23 highway towards the town of Taveta. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will see signs for Lake Chala. The total journey should take around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

Public Transport (Daladala)
To reach Lake Chala by daladala (local minibus), head to the Moshi daladala station. Look for a daladala heading towards Taveta. Once you’re on the right bus, inform the conductor that you need to get off at Lake Chala. The ride will take about 1 to 1.5 hours. After getting off, you may need to walk for about 20-30 minutes, depending on the drop-off point. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to the lodge.

Bicycle Rental
For the more adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Moshi and ride to Lake Chala. Start from the center of Moshi and head towards the A23 highway. The route is approximately 30 kilometers and can take 2-3 hours depending on your cycling speed and stops along the way. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks for the journey. Follow the signs towards Taveta, and look out for the Lake Chala signs as you approach your destination.
