If you are in the central area of Fatih, you can easily reach the Basilica Cistern on foot. Start from Sultanahmet Square, which is a major landmark. Head southeast towards the Sultanahmet tram station. Walk past the Hagia Sophia, keeping it on your right. Continue straight until you reach the street named Yerebatan Caddesi. The entrance to the Basilica Cistern is located at 1/3 Yerebatan Caddesi, directly across from the entrance of the Hagia Sophia. The walk should take approximately 10 minutes.

If you are further away, you can take the T1 tram line towards Kabataş. Get off at the Sultanahmet station. Once you exit the tram, head towards the Hagia Sophia. The Basilica Cistern is located just a short walk away. Follow the directions above from Sultanahmet Square. The tram fare is around 15 TL, which you can pay with an Istanbulkart or a single-use ticket.
