History of Kremenchuk

Kremenchuk was founded in 1571 by Polish King Sigismund II Augustus. Its strategic location on the Dnieper River made it a significant military outpost. Initially, it served as a fortress to protect against Tatar invasions, quickly growing into a bustling settlement.
