Starting from Chester's main shopping area at Eastgate Street, head west towards the Chester City Walls. Continue straight until you reach the entrance of the City Walls near the Eastgate Clock. Once you are on the walls, continue walking along the path. You'll follow the wall as it curves along the city. Keep walking until you reach the area near the Northgate. Look for signs indicating the way to Wishing Steps. The steps will be located on your left side at 14 City Walls, near the historic buildings.

If you are near Chester Cathedral, exit the cathedral grounds and walk towards St. Werburgh Street. Head north until you reach the City Walls. Once you are on the walls, walk westward. Continue until you see the sign for Wishing Steps, which will be located at 14 City Walls.

If you are further away from the city center, take a bus to Chester Bus Interchange. From there, exit the interchange and walk towards the city center. Head to Eastgate Street, and follow the previous directions to reach Wishing Steps via the City Walls.
