Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Down and head northwest on the A25. Continue on the A25 until you reach the A1. Merge onto the A1 and follow the signs for Keswick. Once you reach Keswick, take the A66 towards Penrith. After approximately 1.5 miles, take the exit towards the B5289, following the signs for Castlerigg. Follow Castle Lane, and you will find Castlerigg Stone Circle on your left. There is parking available near the site, but be prepared for a small fee of around £2 for parking.

Public Transportation
For public transportation, take a bus from Down to Keswick. Several bus services operate this route, including the X4 and X5. Once you arrive in Keswick, head to the bus stop at the central square and catch the bus number 78 towards Threlkeld. Get off at the Castlerigg Stone Circle stop. The journey from Down to Keswick takes approximately 1 hour, and from there, the bus to Castlerigg takes about 10 minutes. A one-way ticket from Down to Keswick will cost around £5, while the bus to Castlerigg is usually £2.

Walking
If you're feeling adventurous and are already in Keswick, you can walk to Castlerigg Stone Circle. It's approximately a 30-minute walk. From the center of Keswick, head northeast on the A5271. Continue until you reach Castle Lane, then turn left. Follow Castle Lane for about 1 mile, and the stone circle will be on your right. The walk is uphill, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for a bit of a hike!
