    If you are traveling by car, start by navigating to the Hardknott Pass, Holmrook CA19 1TH. From the central Lake District (e.g., Ambleside), take the A593 towards Coniston. Continue on the A593 until you reach the junction with the A5084. Turn left onto A5084, which will lead you through the scenic countryside. After about 5 miles, merge onto the A595 North and follow it for approximately 6 miles until you reach the junction with the B5281. Turn right onto B5281 and follow the signs for Hardknott Pass. The road will become winding and steep, so drive cautiously. You will find a small parking area near the fort. Note that parking is limited and may incur a fee, so arrive early to secure a spot.
