Travel Guide to Kingscross Viking Fort

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start on the A841 road. From Brodick, head south towards Lamlash. Continue on the A841 through Lamlash and Whiting Bay. After Whiting Bay, follow the road as it curves along the coast. After approximately 6 miles, you will reach Kingscross Point. Look for a small parking area nearby, where you can safely park your car. The Kingscross Viking Fort is a short walk from the parking area, located near the coast.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transport, take the bus service from Brodick to Lamlash using the local Arran bus service. Buses run regularly throughout the day, and you can check the schedule online or at the bus station. Once you arrive at Lamlash, transfer to the 'Lamlash to Whiting Bay' bus service. Disembark at the stop closest to Kingscross Point. From there, it's a short walk to the Kingscross Viking Fort. Make sure to check the bus schedules for return trips, as they may not run late in the evening.

• Walking

  If you're already in the vicinity of Kingscross Point, you may enjoy a scenic walk. From Whiting Bay, take the coastal path heading south. This walk offers stunning views of the sea and surrounding landscape. The distance is approximately 2 miles and should take about 40 minutes. Follow the signs to Kingscross Point, and you will arrive at the Viking Fort area. Ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes and check the weather before setting out.
