    From the center of Lanark, head southwest on the A73 towards Lesmahagow. Continue on the A73 for approximately 4 miles until you reach the A72 junction. Take a right onto the A72 and follow the road for about 2 miles until you see signs for Blackwood and Craignethan Castle. Turn left onto the B7078 and continue for another mile, following the signs. The castle will be on your right. There is a small parking area nearby, which is free of charge.

    From Lanark, take the number 204 bus towards Lesmahagow. The bus departs from the Lanark bus station and runs regularly throughout the day. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Disembark at the Blackwood stop. From there, it is a 15-minute walk to Craignethan Castle. Walk along the B7078 road heading towards the castle, following the signs. Make sure to check the bus timetable for returns as service may be limited, especially on Sundays.
