Car
If you are traveling by car, start on the A701 from your location in Midlothian. Follow the A701 north towards Edinburgh, and merge onto the A720 (City Bypass) at the roundabout. Continue on the A720 until you reach the junction for A71. Take the A71 exit towards Edinburgh. Follow the A71 until you reach Lothian Road. Turn right onto Lothian Road and continue straight until you reach the Fountainbridge area. Lochrin Basin will be on your left side shortly after you cross the canal bridge. Parking may be available nearby.

For public transportation, you can take a bus from various locations in Midlothian to Edinburgh. Look for a bus service that goes to the city center (such as Lothian Buses). Once you arrive at the central bus station (St Andrew Square or Waverley Bridge), you can catch bus number 4 or 10 towards the Fountainbridge area. Disembark at the stop for 'Fountain Park'. From there, Lochrin Basin is a short walk away; simply head towards the canal, and you will find the basin nearby.
