Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Newcastle Central Station, exit the station and head towards the main entrance. Once outside, turn left onto Neville Street. Continue straight until you reach the traffic lights at the junction with Westgate Road. Cross the road and continue onto the Quayside path. Follow the path along the river until you reach the iconic Gateshead Millennium Bridge. Cross the bridge and walk straight ahead to the end of the bridge. Turn left onto South Shore Road and then take the first right onto Sandhill. Bessie Surtees House will be on your right at 41-44 Sandhill.

If you are near the Eldon Square shopping area, walk towards the Haymarket Metro Station. Take the Metro towards South Hylton and alight at Monument Station (only two stops). From Monument, follow the signs to the exit for Grey Street. Once out, turn right onto Grey Street and walk straight until you reach the junction with the Quayside. Turn left onto Sandhill and Bessie Surtees House will be on your left at 41-44 Sandhill.
