  If you're traveling by car, the most straightforward route to Loch Tay is via the A9 from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. From Edinburgh, take the A90 and then the M90 to connect to the A9 northbound. Continue on the A9 until you reach the A827 junction. Take the A827 towards Aberfeldy and follow the signs to Killin, which is located at the western end of Loch Tay. The drive offers beautiful views of the Scottish countryside, and you should allow approximately 2 hours from Edinburgh and 1.5 hours from Glasgow.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, start by taking a train to either Perth or Stirling, depending on your starting location. From Edinburgh or Glasgow, frequent trains operate to both cities. Once in Perth or Stirling, you will need to catch a bus towards Aberfeldy or Killin. Stagecoach operates a bus service (Number 23) from Perth to Aberfeldy, where you can transfer to a local bus (Number 59) heading directly to Killin, which is on the shores of Loch Tay. The entire journey can take 3 to 4 hours, so be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary.

  If you prefer a more direct route without the hassle of public transport, consider booking a taxi or a rideshare service from nearby towns like Aberfeldy or Killin. The fare will depend on your pickup location, but expect it to be around £30-£50 for a ride from Aberfeldy to Loch Tay. This option is great for groups or if you have luggage, as it provides door-to-door service.
