Driving to the Castle of Mey is straightforward via the A836 road from Thurso or John O’Groats. The castle offers free parking for visitors. Travel times from Thurso are approximately 25–30 minutes, and from John O’Groats about 15 minutes. Note that the remote location means limited nearby services.

Visitors can take a train to Thurso Train Station, about 14 miles from the castle, or Wick Train Station, 23 miles away. From Thurso, the Number 80 bus runs Monday to Saturday with several departures daily, taking around 40 minutes to reach Mey. No Sunday bus service is available, so plan accordingly.
