Walking
From the Apostolic Palace, exit the building and head towards the Vatican Museums entrance. Walk straight past the entrance on Viale Vaticano, and continue straight until you reach Piazza San Pietro (St. Peter's Square). Once at the square, you will see St. Peter's Basilica on your right. Head towards Via della Conciliazione, which runs alongside the Basilica. Continue walking along Via della Conciliazione until you reach the Tiber River. Cross the bridge (Ponte Sant'Angelo) and continue on the other side of the river towards Ponte Principe Amedeo Savoia Aosta. After crossing, take the first right onto Via della Lungara. Follow this street until you reach the entrance to Janiculum Hill (Gianicolo). The hill is accessible via several paths, so choose any that seem appealing, and enjoy the scenic views.
