Walking
From the Apostolic Palace, exit into the main courtyard and head towards the Vatican Museums entrance. Continue walking straight until you reach the end of the Vatican City walls. Follow the signs pointing towards Via della Conciliazione, which will lead you towards the Tiber River. Cross the river via the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge. Once across, take a left onto Lungotevere Castello and walk straight until you reach the intersection with Via del Teatro di Marcello. Turn right and continue walking until you arrive at Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore. The Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major will be on your right.
