Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of St. Peter's Square, head towards the colonnades that surround the square. Walk through the colonnades towards the left side of the square. As you exit the colonnades, you will find yourself on Via della Conciliazione. Continue straight along this road until you reach the traffic lights. At the traffic lights, cross over to the opposite side of the street and continue walking straight. After about 700 meters, you will see the entrance to the Roman Forum on your left. The Basilica Julia is located within the Roman Forum area.

    If you prefer a more direct route, from the center of St. Peter's Square, walk towards the large obelisk at the center. Go past the obelisk and head down the Via di San Giovanni in Laterano. Continue straight for about 800 meters until you reach the main entrance to the Roman Forum. Once inside the Roman Forum, follow the signs to the Basilica Julia, which is located near the center of the forum.

    Alternatively, you can walk to the nearby Metro station, Ottaviano - San Pietro. From St. Peter's Square, walk towards the left side of the basilica to reach the metro entrance. Take the Metro Line A towards Anagnina and get off at the Colosseo station. Exit the station and walk towards the Roman Forum. Follow the signs to the Basilica Julia, which is just a short walk from the Colosseum.
