Walking
From St. Peter's Square, head towards the main entrance of St. Peter's Basilica. Exit the square and walk straight along Via della Conciliazione. As you walk, you will see the grand view of St. Peter's Basilica behind you. Continue walking until you reach the end of Via della Conciliazione, where it meets the Tiber River. At this point, turn left onto Lungotevere in Sassia and follow the riverbank. Keep walking for about 1.5 kilometers. When you reach the Ponte Sant'Angelo, cross the bridge and continue straight onto Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. After about 600 meters, turn right onto Via del Corso. After a short walk, turn left onto Via delle Muratte, and you will find yourself at the Trevi Fountain (Piazza di Trevi).

From St. Peter's Square, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is located on Via della Conciliazione. Take the bus line 40 or 64 towards Termini Station. After approximately 10 minutes, get off at the 'Piazza Venezia' stop. From there, walk along Via del Corso for about 600 meters. Turn left onto Via delle Muratte and continue until you reach the Trevi Fountain (Piazza di Trevi).
